Library classes
The Library offers 3 classes. Classes are taught in the
Education Computer Labs. For your convenience, we can also meet
with you individually for one-on-one training, or we can meet with your
department at your departmental meetings and teach just the resources
that you would like to review with your staff. Class
dates: 7/23/08, 7/31/08, 8/27/08, 9/10/08, 9/25/08, 10/22/08,
10/23/08, 11/12/08, 11/13/08, 12/10/08, 12/11/08 (staff can register for
classes in HealthStream)
Physicians
Internet training for members of the medical staff on the databases and resources on the Medical Library website is available, 1 to 3 hours of CME has been approved by the Education Library Committee. For your convenience, we can meet with you at your office.Objectives
- Understand the purpose and mission of the Medical Library and Patient Education website
- Understand the strengths and limitations of different databases and need for access to multiple databases to search for the best evidence.
- Review search strategies of individual databases and requirements for concurrent user limitations, network access requirements and passwords.
- Be able to apply and put into practice the demonstrated search strategy of efficiently navigating electronic clinical resources.
- Be able to utilize additional Medical Library services such as TACOS, book purchasing, literature search requests and full textbook or journal services electronically.
